What it means
IBM's RACF diagnosis guide gives one description for abends 482, 483 and 485: an error in the RACF manager while it was handling a RACF service call (SVC).
The guide says to read the message issued with the abend and to find the RACF manager request in message IRR413I. This is usually a job for the systems programmer.
Typical causes
- An error inside the RACF manager while it handled the request.
- The failing manager request is named in message IRR413I.
- The message issued with the abend gives the reason.
How to fix it
- Capture the messages issued with the abend, including IRR413I if present.
- Look up the abend and message in RACF Messages and Codes for your z/OS level.
- Ask your systems programmer to search IBM support for a matching problem.
- If none is found, the systems programmer can obtain a dump and report it to IBM.
