What it means
NOTAUTH means resource security refused the request. RESP2 101 is the usual value and means the resource check failed for the named program, queue or other resource; on WRITEQ TD, 102 is a failed surrogate check.
From CICS TS 6.2, WRITEQ TD can also return RESP2 103 when the queue is reserved for CICS internal use.
Typical causes
- The signed-on user has no access to the resource in the security manager.
- Resource security is switched on for the transaction but the profiles are missing.
- A surrogate user check failed.
- The program tried to use a queue reserved for CICS.
How to fix it
- Capture RESP2 and the user ID that ran the task.
- Ask the security team to check the profile for that resource and user.
- Check whether the transaction should run with resource security.
- Code RESP (and RESP2) on the command and test the value with DFHRESP.
