What it means
APCT covers three situations. First, the program named on EXEC CICS HANDLE ABEND PROGRAM cannot be used when an abend happens: it is missing from the relocatable program library (RPL), disabled, or cannot be loaded. Second, a mapset or partitionset could not be loaded although the program is defined to CICS: it is missing from the RPL, disabled, or cannot be autoinstalled. Third, a link to, load of or release of one of CICS's own internal programs failed.
The transaction ends with a transaction dump. The trace just before the abend shows which program, mapset or partitionset was involved, and the same name is also held in TCAPCEPI.
Typical causes
- The program named on HANDLE ABEND PROGRAM is not on the RPL, is disabled, or cannot be loaded.
- A mapset or partitionset is defined to CICS but is not on the RPL, is disabled, or cannot be autoinstalled.
- A CICS-provided internal module has an incorrect definition, so a link, load or release of it fails.
How to fix it
- Read the trace just before the abend to get the name of the program, mapset or partitionset; the same name is also held in TCAPCEPI.
- For a program, mapset or partitionset: define it to CICS with CEDA and make sure it is enabled.
- Check that the library the region reads from holds the module.
- For a CICS-provided module: check the messages written during CICS start-up and correct the definition. The Diagnostics reference lists those modules.
- Run the transaction again once the definition is in place and the resource is enabled.
