What it means

TERMERR reports a session or conversation failure. On LINK (RESP2 17) it means the conversation with the mirror in the remote region broke, for example because the session or the server region failed.

Work done in the remote region may not be complete, so check the data before retrying.

Typical causes

  • The session to the remote region dropped.
  • The remote (server) region failed.
  • A network problem between the regions.

How to fix it

  1. Check both regions' logs for session or connection messages.
  2. Confirm whether the remote work was committed or backed out.
  3. Code RESP (and RESP2) on the command and test the value with DFHRESP.
  4. Retry when the connection is back.
