What it means
AKC3 means the task was purged before it finished. Usually someone or something asked CICS to cancel it.
IBM describes a case where nobody purged the task by hand: a node error program cancelled it while handling a terminal error.
Typical causes
- An operator or tool purged the task.
- A node error program (NEP) asked CICS to cancel the task while handling a terminal or session error.
How to fix it
- Check the CICS log around the time of the abend for purge commands or terminal error messages.
- If a node error program is involved, check what action it sets for that error.
- Find out why the task was stuck or slow enough to be purged, and fix that.
- Rerun the transaction once the cause is cleared.
